Thiruvizha Shiva Temple Alappuzha

Thiruvizha Shiva Temple is located at Puthuppally near Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala. The shrine is dedicated to Shiva or Mahadeva.

The shrine is dedicated to Shiva or Mahadeva. The temple is famous for its annual Shivratri festival held in Kumbha masam.A Shivling is worshipped in the main sanctum. This is a traditional Kerala style temple with a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, kodimaram and shrines of upa devatas.

The main upa devatas here are Bhagavathy and Ganapati.The annual festival is famous for various pujas, uma maheshwara puja, udayasthaman pooja, niramala, abhishekams and homams. Temple art forms, and melam are part of the annual festival.

Vinayaka Chaturthi

Vinayaka Chaturthi, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom and prosperity. It is typically celebrated on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the waxing moon period (Shukla Paksha) in the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls in the Gregorian months of August or September.

Thiruvathira

During Thiruvathira, women typically observe fasting and perform various rituals to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for marital harmony, longevity, and prosperity. The festival is marked by special poojas, traditional dances (Thiruvathirakali), and offerings made at Shiva temples.
