Pongala
In this ritual, women prepare a sweet rice dish called "Pongala" in earthen pots using rice, jaggery, coconut, ghee, and other ingredients. The Pongala is cooked on open fires, often set up along the streets surrounding the temple premises, as an offering to the presiding deity, usually Goddess Bhadrakali or another form of the divine feminine.
Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivaratri, also known as the Great Night of Lord Shiva, is one of the most significant festivals celebrated at the Sree Vadakkumnathan Subrahmanya Swami Temple.Devotees observe fasts and stay awake throughout the night, engaging in prayers, meditation, and chanting of hymns in reverence to Lord Shiva.
