Thirunayathode Sivanarayana Temple Ernakulam

Thirunayathode Sivanarayana Temple or Thiru Nayathode Siva Narayana Temple is an ancient temple located at Nayathod, a small village in Ernakulam District of Kerala, India.

Thirunayathode temple is a protected monument by Archeological Department, Kerala. The deity at this temple is Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu.

Thirunayathode Sivanarayana Temple festivals

The main murti in the temple is Shivling but the important pujas are offered to Vishnu. Both the deities face east. The Upa Devata in the temple is Ganapathy. The puja to Vishnu is performed in between the Shiva puja. Naivedya is prepared in two different vessels. Mula, Panchagavya and Navagam are prepared separately for both the deities.

Archaeological Importance

Sivanarayana temple pertained to the 11th - 12th century C.E. is of Vritha Vimana. The square-shaped Ardhamandapa of Sivanarayana Temple is decorated with Navagraha sculptures engraved on the ceiling. The murals on the wall of the Srikovil are scientifically conserved by the Department of Archaeology.
